The Two Family Law Courts
THE DOMESTIC RELATIONS COURT handles cases with couples that are or were married. These include divorce, dissolution, legal separation, annulment, post-decree modifications, and contempt actions on prior court orders.
The court has both Judges and Magistrates to assist on these matters. The court also deals with all child related issues when children are involved in these cases including custody, support, and parenting time.
THE JUVENILE COURT is a branch of the domestic relations court that handles cases between parties that are not and have not been legally married. It also includes other parties such as grandparents and other interested parties.
The court handles custody, child support, visitation, grandparents’ rights, and parentage (paternity). It will handle post-judgment modifications and contempt actions of prior court orders as well.
